A crankshaft position sensor (CKPS) is to confirm the position of crankshaft, or rather, the rotating angle of crankshaft. It usually works with camshaft position sensor (CPS)-----to confirm timing. CKPS is normally installed in a distributor; it is one of the most important sensors of EMS.
1, check engine RPM, so it is also called RPM sensor;
2, It is also called top dead center (TDC) sensor as it checks TDC of pistons;
3, it checks TDC of all pistons to confirm timing signal of the first cylinder in sequential injection control.
