TPS

TPS sensor is also called throttle valve opening degree sensor or throttle valve switch. Its main function is to check whether the engine is in a state of idle speed or load, acceleration or deceleration; It is just consisted of a variable resistor and a few switches, installed on the throttle body.

The spinning shaft of resistor and throttle valve are closely correlated, it has two contact points: full-open point and idle speed point. When throttle valve is at idle speed point, idle speed signal will be sent to ECU; when throttle valve is open at any angle, a voltage signal of throttle valve position will be sent to ECU, ECU will then identify the load of engine, or engine is at an acceleration or deceleration state, based on which, ECU is able to adjust the dosage of petrol or cut petrol supply.
