Knock Sensor
Early timing is a major reason of knocking, in order to obtain the best work of engine without knocking, a knock sensor is installed on cylinder body to monitor the shaking of engine, while engine knock occurs, knock sensor will send the knock signal to ECU to adjust timing angle. When engine knocks, pressure wave will take place with a frequency from 1 to 10KHZ. The pressure wave will be transferred to cylinder body, metal particles of cylinder body will generate vibration acceleration, and knock sensor is able to confirm the intensity of knock by checking the vibration acceleration.
